Talking therapies have been shown in research to be useful for lots of people in lots of situations and conditions such as anxiety or depression. It is sometimes called talking treatments, counselling, psychological treatments or psychotherapy.
Talking therapy is for anyone who's going through a difficult time or has emotional problems they need help with. It can also be useful for people who are not currently under distress but feel stressed or isolated and find they do not have anyone to talk to.
For many adults it may be the same or more effective than medication for a wide variety of issues.
How can talking to me help?
Talking to a qualified therapist who is trained to listen can be easier than talking to relatives or friends with there incumbent opinions and history.
During talking therapy, I will listen to you as a whole person, making sure you feel heard and understood. I will help you to find your own answers to problems, without judging you. To do this, I draw on my expertise in a variety of evidenced-based practices, holistic knowledge and life experience to help you move towards feeling better.
I will give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think. It's an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way with someone who'll respect you and your opinions.
Usually, I work one-to-one with clients via a video chat function, such as Skype or Whatsapp.
Although there are lots of different types of talking therapy, they all have a similar aim: to help you feel better.
What Types of therapy do I offer?
Having worked with people from many backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and genders, I have experienced an amazing diversity of problems and issues and also a huge variation in people’s ways of thinking and making sense of their situation.
Based on that experience, I find it hard to believe that one specific therapy is suitable for all clients, with all problems, in all situations. Because of this, I work integratively.
This means in therapy with clients, I use different parts from different therapy styles for different aspect of their issues.
I work with my clients to develop the best understanding of their problems and then offer some ideas based on analysis and my expertise.
It is for my clients to see which one resonates with them.
In that way, therapy with a client is made collaboratively and not prescribed like a doctor might do.
The result is to help you feel better.
