Booking Conditions

When you make a booking with me (onlinecounsellingtherapies.com) for an initial session, either via email or this website, you will receive a free no obligation first session. This session evaluates the issues bringing you to therapy and determines whether we are a good fit for working together in the future. It is an evaluation session only and subject to Privacy Policy and not contract conditions. 

Should we decide we would like to continue with therapy together, I will send you my full agreement which goes into detail about exactly how your data is stored and used, cancellation policies and all other terms and conditions. 

When you receive an agreement from me please read and ask me any questions about it that you would like. If there is something you are not happy with, we can discuss it and potentially work around it. When you are happy, please return it to me signed before the start of our session.

Privacy

This privacy notice sets out how onlinecounsellingtherapies.com uses and protects any information that you give us when you visit this website or when you contact us by other means and the lawful basis under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulations (‘GDPR’ ) (May 2018) that permits us to do so.

You may visit our website freely without having to contact or use our services. You may or may not accept our use of cookies by clicking the button on the home page.

This website is intended for persons over 18 years of age.  

The content of our work together is confidential, with two exceptions. Firstly, all BACP registered therapists attend regular confidential supervision with other qualified therapists. This is done to discuss a client’s situation and ensure that we are working in the most effective way we possibly can be to help that client reach their goals. This supervision is confidential, and everyone involved in the process is bound by that confidentiality. Secondly, if I believe you are at risk to yourself or others, or if a child’s welfare appears at risk, I may be required by law to break confidentiality.

Your data and its confidentiality is very important to me. I keep brief notes on our session and these too are confidential, as is any personal data you send me. All this information is stored on an encrypted cloud service which is password protected. I keep this data, in its original form, for one year from our last session. This is because sometimes clients wish to come back after they have stopped working with me and this saves us starting from the beginning by allowing me to refamiliarise myself with their information. After this it is deleted. If you wish your data to be deleted prior to this, this can be arranged. 

I conduct our work on a computer that used only for therapy work, has up to date antivirus software and is password protected.onlincounsellingtherapies.com is committed to ensuring that we protect your privacy and will seek your explicit written consent to hold personal data about you, explicitly and only for the purposes of providing therapy to you.  

If you make contact via this website or by email you will be asked to provide certain information by which you can be identified.

You can be assured that all this information is held securely and will only be used in accordance with data protection principles, our data protection and confidentiality policies and our ethical principles (contained in the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions: 2018). We will honour the confidence and trust you have placed in us.

You have the right of access to information we hold about you and to amend or ask for deletion of information that may not be accurate or correct.  Please contact us if you wish to view the data we hold about you. onlinecounsellingtherapies.com will not hold your data for longer than is deemed necessary for the purposes of therapy and following best practice and legal guidance.
